Carple Steamer Baits
Whether you make carp baits yourself, or buy ready made, boilies make very good baits for carp fishing. I have tried creating my own boilies, and come up with some strange recipes (boilie receipts, receipes, recepes?) that have worked. However, in my old age, I have become lazy. With the huge variety of proven boilies out there, why make my own. I am not skilled enough in making boilies to the exceptionally high standards that ready made boilies are produced. Sure, it works out a bit cheaper, but I don’t want to compromise on quality.
Just recently, I came across The Baitmaster’s Carple baits - I won’t call them boilies, because they are steamed not boiled. Steamers are made from very high quality ingredients, and because they are steamed, not boiled, they lose very little of their flavour, scent and nutritional goodness in the cooking process.
Particilarly at this time of year, I have found that I get a lot better results when using a highly flavoured hookbait, using glugged boilies (rosehip has always worked well for me in the winter). This year, I have been using the Carple Steamer baits and my catch rate is up by over 20% on this time last year. Whether that is down to the mild weather we have had in the main this winter, or down to the bait, I am not sure, but I have had a lot of success when others on the lakes have struggled.
